An Apicetomy is a small and short surgery (30-40min) performed on a tooth that has had a previous failed root canal treatment. It has the aim of removing the apex (tip) of a root and the infected tissue surrounding that same root.
An apicetomy can help you keep your natural tooth even when previous root canal treatments have failed. It is the last option before an extraction, and sometimes it is a great solution for anterior teeth, where it is better to keep our natural dentition as most as possible.
